Samsung and RadioShack Bring Live Music, Entertainment to 250,000 NASCAR Fans

/UCWE/ - Dallas, TX - RadioShack Corporation (NYSE: RSH) and Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung) are building on the NASCAR tradition of family fun by creating a two-story entertainment complex at this year's Samsung/RadioShack 500 NASCAR Nextel Cup race.

The Samsung/RadioShack 500 Stage will attract fans with live music, celebrity autograph signings, giveaways, interactive phone displays and photo opportunities. The Stage will remain open to the public at no charge between gates 6 and 7 from Thursday, April 14 to Sunday, April 17.

The Samsung/RadioShack 500 Stage will allow race fans to escape the sun while engaging in a variety of activities, including snapping souvenir photos, taking home exciting giveaways, experiencing cutting-edge wireless technology on Samsung's latest phones and enjoying live music.

Headlining the live performances is Josh Gracin, the breakthrough country artist from "American Idol" whose smash single, "Nothing to Lose," has reached No. 1 on country radio. Gracin will sing the national anthem at the race after his performance at the Samsung/RadioShack 500 Stage at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 17.

The Samsung/RadioShack 500 Stage will include:

Live Performances: In addition to headliner Gracin, Southern rock band Ingram Hill will kick-start Sunday morning with a performance at 9:00 a.m. On Saturday, VooDoo Blue, a Dallas-based Stevie Ray Vaughn cover band, will perform at 10:00 a.m.

The Samsung/RadioShack 500 Stage will host a number of autograph sessions from artists, athletes and celebrities, including Richard Karn (Al from TV's "Home Improvement" and the current spokesperson for the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation), Superstar Motorcross rider Travis Pastrana and Gracin.

Giveaways: A one-of-a-kind CD sampler will be provided to the first 20,000 visitors to the venue on Sunday. The CD includes music by Gracin, Ingram Hill and Josh Kelley and will include a promotional coupon for purchase of a Samsung phone at RadioShack.

Wireless Phone Demos: NASCAR tech enthusiasts can check out the latest wireless technology from Samsung, testing out sleek camera phones and new multimedia features.

"More than 250,000 spectators make the trip to Texas Motor Speedway to enjoy a weekend of action sports and entertainment," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of wireless terminals, Samsung. "For the fourth year, Samsung is proud to be a sponsor of the race, and we are thrilled to unveil a venue this year that gives fans a great place to enjoy their overall race experience."

"The only thing that comes close to matching the excitement taking place on the Speedway is what happens outside the stands on the Midway before the races start," said Don Carroll, senior vice president, chief marketing and brand officer for RadioShack. "We thought that hosting this new interactive venue over the weekend with celebrities, live music, giveaways and product demonstrations would be the perfect way to make this year's Samsung/RadioShack 500 even more memorable."
