Time For Change in Connecticut : Linda McMahon U.S. Senate 2010
/UCWE/ - Linda McMahon is definitely a poster girl for success, she was instrumental in building the empire known today as World Wrestling Entertainment or “WWE”, although many saw her husband Vince McMahon on the frontline, Linda was pushing the machine forward in the background. Her passion for business helped bring the then known World Wrestling Federation from the darkness into the mainstream not only in the United States but globally.

The story began with Vince McMahon Sr. running a Professional Wrestling territory to his son Vince McMahon Jr along with his wife Linda, taking all their business savvy and marketing know how to expanding this 13 back office operation to a thriving 500 plus employee corporation which trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol WWE. With offices everywhere from New York to London, Shanghai to Tokyo, they indeed made a global expansion that any growing business can take notes on.

The couple endured their share of bumps in the road over the past two decades or so, from steroid scandals to going head to head in a struggling war with Ted Turners World Championship Wrestling aka “WCW”, with the chips and money stacked against them, the end result was the “WWE” acquiring the “WCW.”

If that does not give you a glimpse into the vision and tenacity of the McMahon’s and Linda McMahon herself then nothing will, from producing household names such as Hulk Hogan, Randy “Macho Man” Savage, “The Rock” , “Triple H”, “John Cena” to launching feature films, she has been nothing less than astounding in her business endeavors.

Now Linda McMahon is out to achieve another goal and that is to capture a Connecticut State Senate seat, she is running for office in hopes of taking her decades of business experience to the hill and exact change in the failed economic policies not only in her home state but nationwide. She is looking to bring ideas to get spending under control and put people back to work.

This was a big step for her to do because it meant stepping down from the company that she nurtured into what we know as the “WWE” today. She is a fiscal conservative and what actually sparked her to get into politics for the first time in her life was the financially stressed state of the United States.

If anyone can give insight into creating jobs, balancing a budget and cutting the fat, well Linda McMahon is definitely that person.

She has made it a point to not accept PAC money or entertain contributions from special interest groups, and on top of that she has limited contributions to a maximum of US$100.00.

Just like Michael Bloomberg did with his New York City Mayor Campaigns, Linda McMahon has used her own resources to fund her bid for office, thus allowing her to hold office her way and to be extremely competitive with Connecticut’s Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.

With all of that said, we do feel that Linda McMahon may indeed exact change in Washington, she is a fighter for the people and there is no doubt that she will continue to fight for the people should she be elected to office.

She graduated from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., with a Bachelor of Science in French and certified to teach. She and her husband, Vince, were married in 1966.
