Innovative Songstress NEeMA Goes Back to School For New Video, "Escape"
/UCWE/ - New York – Montreal-based recording artist NEeMA has released her first official music video for the single "Escape"
off her radiant sophomore album release WATCHING YOU THINK (Due for US Release February 1, 2011 / Sony International).
The music video was shot at École St-Ambroise in Little Italy in Montreal, Quebec and features NEeMA as the teacher of elementary
school children. "It was a wonderful experience," stated NEeMA. "The kids were amazing. Their energy was inspiring and they played
their parts so well. I love the fact that it was both fun and a real learning experience for them. They were gathered around after the
shoot asking for autographs; it was really touching."
It was a natural fit for NEeMA as she has had much experience working with children, first working at a pre-school while she was studying
in Montreal and then working with street kids during her travels through Egypt. She also managed a community in Wekweti, Northwest
Territories, creating programs for native Canadians.
NEeMA’s extensive background translates seamlessly into a rich storytelling style, as showcased throughout WATCHING YOU THINK.
The album was produced in association with her long-time mentor, Leonard Cohen, and Pierre Marchand (Sarah McLachalan, Ron
Sexsmith). In support of the album’s upcoming US release, NEeMA is currently on the second leg of an extensive US tour with The Chapin Sisters.
