Gay-Straight Romantic Comedy “Fall River” to Screen at American Film Market
SANTA MONICA, CA, /UCWE/ - If mainstream Hollywood wasn’t so hung up on homosexuality being odd or “queer,” they would make romantic comedies like “Fall River.”
“Fall River,” which had the cumbersome working title of “Several Things Not Intended to Hurt You,” is an amusing look at two relationships: an existing one between Colin and Gil and a budding one between Gil’s sister Jeri and a newcomer to Fall River named Alex. The catch is that Colin and Gil are both men.
But what is striking about Fall River is how “normal” the relationship between Colin and Gil is. The laughs come not from any quirkiness related to their sexual preference, but to their attempts to deal with the normal challenges of love and life in a small town in the mountains of Colorado. In fact, many of the heartbreaks and laughs in Gil and Colin’s relationship parallel those of the heterosexual relationship of Jeri and Alex. In the end we find ourselves laughing with them regardless of whom they love and not at them because of it.
Fall River was produced by KilltheMoment Productions in Colorado from a screenplay written by Scott Gibson. Inferno Film Productions, LLC, also of Colorado, is offer distribution rights to the movie at the 2005 American Film Market.
